After months of speculation, Sarah Paulson has finally confirmed her character for “American Horror Story: Freak Show.” The actress took to Twitter on June 12 to tweet the following message:

Paulson's announcement about playing conjoined twins comes a day after E! Online posted her initial reaction to the first script for Season 4.

"Holy s---!" she told the website, dishing that "Freak Show" is a "beautiful hybrid between 'Coven' and 'Asylum.'"

While she didn't give away her character at the time, she did tease that her new role is "very exciting and totally nerve-wracking in the best way."

"You think, 'How the hell am I going to pull this off?!'" Paulson explained. "And as an actor, I think that's an exciting thing to feel."

Paulson has appeared on the FX show since its first season, the "Murder House." In Season 1, Paulson had a minor role as Billie Dean, a psychic medium who helped Jessica Lange's character, Constance. During "Asylum," she took on a bigger role, playing Lana Winters, a reporter wrongly locked up at the Briarcliff Mental Institution. The latest season featured her as Cordelia Foxx, the daughter of Lange's Supreme witch, Fiona Goode.

Paulson is the first "American Horror Story" star to post a photo of her Season 4 character, but she's not the only "freak" to be outted. As we previously reported, actors Evan Peters and Kathy Bates will play performers in the freak show. Meanwhile, Lange's character is a German ex-pat who "manages one of the last freak shows in the U.S." Her new role will find her going head-to-head with actor Denis O'Hare's character who is said to be a "collector of freaks."

"American Horror Story: Freak Show" returns to FX in October.
