Steeper charges have been leveled against one of the suspects in the death of Aniah Blanchard, stepdaughter of UFC fighter Walt Harris, whose remains were recently recovered in Macon County, Alabama.

Ibraheem Yazeed now faces charges of capital murder for his part in the kidnapping and killing of Blanchard, upgraded from first-degree kidnapping.

Yazeed is currently being held without bond in Lee County, where Blanchard attended Southern Union College in the town of Auburn. Lee County District Attorney Brandon Hughes has said that he will seek the death penalty for Yazeed.

“We have determined that Mr. Yazeed was the lone person responsible in this case for abducting Aniah Blanchard,” Hughes said. “He is the only person responsible for Aniah's murder.”

Two other suspects had been arrested in connection with Blanchard’s disappearance. Hughes has not commented on the status of the suspects.

Blanchard, 19, was reported missing on Oct. 24. After a search, her abandoned vehicle was found days later containing blood that was "indicative of someone suffering a life-threatening injury." Yazeed was brought in as a suspect on Nov. 8 after a witness reported seeing him force Blanchard into her car. On Nov. 25, Blanchard’s remains were found and it was determined that she had been killed by a gunshot.
