Another trucking company has reportedly closed its doors for good. This time, Howard Baer Inc., a Nashville, Tennessee, refrigerated carrier, has shut down after nearly 70 years of service.

The trucking company shut down operations on Jan. 31, citing increasing government regulations, Freightwaves reported.

Owner Greg Baer told the news outlet, “Trucking just isn’t worth it anymore. The government has piled on so many regulations on these drivers that most young people don’t want to become truck drivers.”

Founded in 1951, Howard Baer reportedly had 95 trucks and 198 drivers, operating refrigerated services in 30 states. At the time of its operation wind down, the carrier was down to 35 trucks, the news outlet said.

Howard Baer is the latest trucking company to fold over the last month. Cold Carrier Logistics, Falcon Transport, LME, New England Motor Freight, and Celadon have all closed their doors since the beginning of 2020.
