Authorities revealed Wednesday anti-Semitic and anti-authority manifestos allegedly written by one of the suspects responsible for the Jersey City shooting.

Investigators revealed the findings Wednesday morning to reporters after an overnight investigation into the suspects. One of the suspects had allegedly written several anti-Semitic and anti-authority manifestos that were published online before the shooting. Another, hand-written manifesto was found the van the suspects allegedly used by the shooters in Tuesday’s shooting. The manifesto was said to be short, “rambling,” and made it more difficult to identify a possible motive.

However, authorities did say the manifestos represent likely motives for the alleged shooters’ actions.

Jersey City Mayor Steven Fulop also addressed the media in a press conference Wednesday morning, saying the shooters had targeted the deli. The CCTV footage showed the two suspected gunmen pulling their van up to the deli and took their time preparing before exiting the vehicle.

“The perpetrators stopped in front of there and calmly opened the door with two long rifles,” Fulop said.

Fulop posted on Twitter that he had been in active contact with members of the local Jewish community and assured there was no more “active threat” against the community or anyone else in Jersey City.

Fulop also took the chance to address rumors on Twitter that the shooters were allegedly practicing Muslims. He said these ideas “aren’t accurate” and there was “zero indication” based on current evidence that either suspect was a practicing Muslim.
