There are lots of reasons to break a lease early, but Prince Harry and Meghan Markle could have a weird one. A new report claims a local bakery’s popularity may have made the couple leave their Oxfordshire rental.

The Daily Beast reports that locals in Great Tew “wonder if an overly-popular bakery and cafe might have contributed to Harry and Meghan’s surprise decision to give up their country home in the Oxfordshire village.”

Apparently, a new pastry shop called Bakergirl opened its doors over the summer and has become a tourist destination. That has rubbed locals the wrong way. In addition to Meghan and Harry, celebrities like David and Victoria Beckham also live in the area.

Tons of tourists come for Bakergirl’s iced cinnamon rolls, so it isn’t as quiet as it used to be. It isn’t just more people that’s the problem, though. The visitors allegedly aren’t very respectful of the town, according to one resident.

“There are literally people [urinating] in the bushes,” a townsperson told the Daily Beast. “The village smells on warm days. I’m not surprised Meghan’s had enough.”

Meghan and Harry have reportedly been renting a large farmhouse in the Cotswolds since last spring, but tabloids first published photos of the house earlier this month. The Daily Mail, however, claims that the couple is actually moving out a year before their lease was set to end because they want to cut costs. The renovations at Frogmore Cottage are expected to be around £3 million, and they’re worried about the costs of maintaining the rental in addition to the updates at their new home in Windsor.

The outlet also noted that security was an issue. It’s not an official royal residence which means that there isn’t quite as much security as there could be.

Locals reportedly were also concerned about not only the attention Meghan and Harry brought but also the cost of protecting them. The Metropolitan and Thames Valley police forces split the costs for guarding the property.

In any case, it looks like Meghan and Harry will be staying at Nottingham Cottage until Frogmore is ready.
