KEY POINTS

  • The November launch of the PS5 will see several games available for purchase for you to immediately play with when buying the console
  • Count "Destruction AllStars," "Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition," and "Spider-Man: Miles Morales" among the titles available at the PS5's launch
  • One day access will also be given to PS5 players to the games-on-demand service that is the PS Plus Collection

After Sony’s 40-minute showcase announcing the price and release date for the PlayStation 5, an audience that had been waiting on that information finally has a sense of what they will get with the console right out of the box.

The standard edition PS5 will cost $499.99 while the PS5 Digital Edition is priced at $399.99 and will formally be launched on Nov. 12 in the U.S., Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand, and South Korea. The rest of the world will get the console on Nov. 19.

Prior to today though, Kotaku notes that the launch library for the PlayStation 5 had been unknown due to delays and other factors. The mystery now ends with the formal announcement that the following will be available when you buy a PlayStation 5:

  • The zany platformer “Astro’s Playroom” will come pre-loaded on every PS5.
  • “Sackboy: A Big Adventure,” a fully 3D entry in the long-running 2.5D “LittleBigPlanet” series, will be available at launch.
  • Global battle royal phenomenon “Fortnite” will come with the PS5.
  • “Destruction AllStars,” a game about crashing (vehicles and fists) into each other, will be available at launch.
  • “Devil May Cry 5: Special Edition,” a shiny redux of the action game complete with raytracing, will be available digitally on day one.
  • In a Tweet, Insomniac Games confirmed that “Spider-Man: Miles Morales” will be available alongside the PS5, depending on your region. (It’s also coming to the PlayStation 4.)
  • “The Demon’s Souls” remake from Bluepoint Studios will be playable at launch.
  • Developed by Counterplay Games and published by Gearbox Publishing, the action role-playing game “Godfall” will also be available when the PlayStation 5 launches

The games-on-demand service known as the PS Plus Collection will also be accessible for PlayStation 5 players for one day. The service allows you to download and play some of the biggest games on the current-gen PlayStation 4.

If you missed playing “God of War,” “Uncharted 4,” “Battlefield 3,” “Persona 5,” or “Batman: Arkham Knight,” you will now have a chance to try them out on the brand spanking new PlayStation 5 complete with all of its better graphics.

Since “Assassin’s Creed Valhalla” previously announced that it is launching on Nov. 10 alongside the Xbox Series X, you can now also expect to have access to the PS5 version for the latter console’s launch.

Since “Marvel’s Avengers” was confirmed as a launch upgrade for PS4 owners of the game, it should be expected that the PlayStation 5 version should also be ready when the console is available.
