Battlefield 1 was probably the most positively regarded shooter last year, but that doesn’t mean the game’s multiplayer suite is problem free. Following the release of a major update last month, combatants are seeing an uptick in lost Battlepacks. A popular reddit thread details the problem.

For those unfamiliar with Battlefield 1, Battlepacks are loot boxes doled out at the end of matches and purchased with in-game currency called scrap. They generally focus on cosmetics or limited XP boosts, but puzzle pieces can also be collected to earn a small cache of melee weapons too.

This feature is fair when it works, but, right now, players are getting frustrated. In many cases, after exerting energy or spending scrap to get a pack, the content fails to load and isn’t added to the player's inventory. As such, the system is fundamentally broken.

The issue has reportedly existed for several months but has reached its peak level of annoyance over the past few weeks. Those who’ve contacted EA support were told the issue is “being worked on” by DICE with no added specifics. While this is likely a scripted response to repeated questioning, it’s still the latest official word from EA.

Battlefield 1 ’s last major update was released in the middle of February, and it added ribbon awards for playing objectives, Elite Codices for 500 kills with a single weapon and a host of server-side adjustments. The game’s first DLC expansion, They Shall Not Pass, will be made available for premium season pass holders next week.

Battlefield 1 is available now on Xbox One, PS4 and PC.
