While rumors about Ben Affleck and Jennifer Garner’s reconciliation have gained traction lately, the reason behind the alleged reunion is that “Gone Girl” actor wants to save his fortune, Radar Online reported Monday. Affleck and Garner announced their divorce last June, ending their 10-year marriage.

“Ben can’t afford to divorce,” a source told Radar Online. Affleck, reportedly worth $75 million, was shocked when he found out how much money Garner demanded in the divorce.

“Now that Jen’s deal is on the table, he’s beginning to realize she’s going to leave him flat broke and there’s nothing he can do about it,” the source told the gossip website. “The only solution he’s got to keeping his fortune is to patch things up with her. But it’s not solely about cash — he does love their family and he and Jen do genuinely care for each other.”

But Garner “never got over his dalliances and her bitterness, however justified, is making things very difficult ,” the insider told Radar Online, adding that Affleck “is quite literally banking on her coming around because if she rejects him, he’s going to have to start rebuilding his bank balance from scratch!”

However, the report is unlikely to be true. Gossip Cop, which debunks celebrity rumors, dismissed the Radar Online report. A source told Gossip Cop that Radar Online’s story “couldn’t be further from the truth” and that “there’s real love and admiration” between Garner and Affleck. However, they are not planning to save their marriage, the source added.

Garner and Affleck spent time together with their children in Europe last month and the actress was rumored to be pregnant with Affleck’s fourth child. The couple did not address the rumor.
