Want to watch some horror and magic-themed movies this Halloween? We've got you covered. Check out the list of the best movies to ring in the spooky season, from sequels of cult classics like "Hocus Pocus" to fan favorites from the ever-popular wizard movie franchise, "Harry Potter."

Hocus Pocus 2

What happens when a trio of child-hungry witches from the 1600s accidentally time travel to the modern era? "Hocus Pocus 2" is a highly anticipated sequel to the 90s movie starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Bette Midler and Kathy Najimy, which was released on Sept. 30 on Disney+.

The Witches

Here's another movie that involves witches, one that is perfect for Halloween and entertaining not just for kids but also adults. Starring Anne Hathaway, Stanley Tucci and Octavia Spencer, and narrated by Chris Rock, the movie revolves around a young boy traveling to a village to meet his grandma when he learns of nefarious plans made by witches.

The Wizard of Oz

Up for a classic musical? 1939's "The Wizard of Oz," has flying monkeys, Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Lion. The movie follows a Kansas teen as she encounters the Wicked Witch and the Wizard - an evergreen fantasy that's based on the novel by Victor Fleming. It is also available in the color format on HBO Max.

Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

It is the first installment of a movie franchise based on J.K. Rowling's staggeringly popular book series that raised an entire generation of fantasy fiction lovers. A list of top Halloween movies is hardly complete without a mention of Harry Potter and his adventures (or should we say misadventures?)

"Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" follows three pre-teens stepping into the world of magic, learning spells, mixing potions, and exploring the school grounds at Hogwarts and the mysteries that lie beyond. Watching the first movie in the 8-part series is sure to bring back fun memories and, of course, it could turn into a Harry Potter marathon as there are seven more movies to follow.

Goosebumps

What happens when horror meets comedy? Let "Goosebumps" answer that as it revolves around a young man who moves to a small town and learns how his crush's father has some mysterious secrets. This movie is also available on HBO Max to stream.

Dark Shadows

The movie features Johnny Depp as Barnabas Collins, who used to be a playboy but later turns into a vampire because he breaks the heart of a witch. It is available to stream on the Peacock streaming platform.

Aside from these movies, you can also watch "Into The Woods," "A Series Of Unfortunate Events," "Matilda," "Paranorman" and "Beetlejuice" to make your Halloween more entertaining.
