Tom and Scottie’s shocking twist will continue to be explored in “The Blacklist” spinoff show, titled “The Blacklist: Redemption.” It was announced Saturday that NBC had ordered the new show, with Famke Janssen and Ryan Eggold reprising their roles as Scottie and Tom, respectively.

According to TVLine, the spinoff series will focus on Tom Keen teaming up with Susan “Scottie” Hargrave, who runs Grey Matters, a covert mercenary organization that solves problems the government would rather stay away from. “As they team up to employ their unique skills and resources in a dangerous world of deadly criminals, Tom begins his own covert mission to find out more about his shadowy past,” an official description of the new show reads.

As previously reported, in Thursday’s episode 22 of “The Blacklist” Tom learned that his real name is Christopher Hargrave, and Scottie is actually his biological mother. However, Red (James Spader) warned him not to say anything to her because Scottie believes her son died when he was young. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Jon Bokenkamp dished on the Scottie and Tom twist, teasing that there is a very good reason why Tom was warned about revealing his discovery to Scottie.

“Tom’s a little like Pinocchio; he’s a boy who wants to be real. He wants to love, but he’s not equipped with that skill. This news, the promise of who he is, is exciting, but it’s also a double-edged sword,” Bokenkamp explained. “On one hand, it presents him with potential answers about who he is. On the other hand, Scottie Hargrave is a dangerous woman, so he has to be careful about how he proceeds.”

Also joining the spinoff is “Blacklist” star Edi Gathegi (Mr. Solomon) and “Heroes” actress Tawny Cypress.

“The Blacklist: Redemption” has not been given a premiere date yet. “The Blacklist” Season 3 finale airs Thursday at 9 p.m. EDT on NBC.
