“Blindspot” Season 3 may not see the return of Michelle Hurd’s character, Shepherd.

In Season 2, Hurd became a series regular in the hit NBC series. But just recently, series creator Martin Gero told TV Line that they don’t have any plans to bring the character back. “But it’s not a closed door in any way. She’s certainly busy because she’s so amazing. We love her, and we’d love to find a way to bring her back, but there’s no plan as of yet,” he said.

Last season, the villainous character’s plan to take over the United States government did not materialize. In the finale episode, which aired on May 17, Shepherd was last seen being interrogated by Nas (Archie Panjabi). As such, fans would have to wait to find out what Nas and Shepherd agreed or didn’t agree on if it will ever be shown in Season 3.

Meanwhile, even though Hurd’s return to “Blindspot” Season 3 is still unlikely to happen, Gero shared some of the things he is already sure of for the upcoming episodes. While speaking with Collider, Gero said that it is their goal for Season 3 to have better balance and tone.

“There’s so much going on in the world to stress about. We want ‘Blindspot’ to be the escapist television it’s supposed to be, and not just have it stress you out even more, with the various ways the world could blow up. Although, that will still be a part of it,” he said.

Gero also talked about Jane Doe’s (Jaimie Alexander) tattoos and how “Blindspot” Season 3 will focus on the character’s inks again just like in Season 1. “What’s great about the way we’re doing it in Season 3 is that some of those tattoos are now about our team. That’s all I’ll say, for now. So, in one way, it’s a new dynamic, but a return to the type of storytelling that we did in the first season. And then, for the Weller-Jane relationship, it’s not going to start from zero. That’s all I’m saying. All of our Jeller fans will be very satisfied with the first episode back,” he said.

“Blindspot” Season 3 will premiere on Oct. 27 at 8 p.m. EDT on NBC.
