Gearbox Software will finally release “Borderlands 3” on the Epic Games Store this September. The developer also promised that the game will be released on other online stores after some time.

Based on the deal between Epic Games and Gearbox Software, “Borderlands 3” will be exclusive to the store for six months. Basing from its Sept. 13 release date, the game would be available on other stores for PC by April 13, 2020. Fans of the series who do not want to purchase from the Epic Games Store will have to wait until this exclusivity deal is over.

As of late, reviews for “Borderlands 3” are looking well, with its PC ratings averaging 85 Metascore on Metacritic. Many reviews noted that Gearbox did well in making the game and its new features, but the game’s lack of innovative features removes some credit from its great execution. The developer polished the loot shooter genre with this title but didn’t necessarily revolutionize it in some way.

Even so, many fans are still looking forward to play “Borderlands 3” once it is released. After the release of the last “Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel” entry, many fans were looking forward to seeing this title year after year. The company’s fans voiced out their disappointment when “Battleborn” was released last 2016.

While the company was happy to try its hand on the esports scene, the game failed to garner enough audience to run a large competitive community. The game received its final update after a year and 3 months while the company was dropping some hints about finally making “Borderlands 3.”

For now, “Borderlands 3” fans who are not interested in the Epic Games Store will have to wait for much longer to play this game. Gearbox Software also didn’t confirm if it’ll consider Steam as its other platform once the deal with the Epic Games Store is up.

In the past, Gearbox partnered with Epic Games instead of Valve, owner of Steam, since Epic Games offers a better financial deal than Valve. Because there is no assurance at this point, fans are urged to wait for an official announcement on the game’s possible release on Steam.
