Two sisters in India who were getting married on the same day married each other's groom after a power outage caused an accidental mixup.

The bizarre incident was reported from Dangwada village in the central Indian state of Madhya Pradesh while three sisters in a family got married on the same night.

All the three siblings who were dressed alike had veils covering their faces during the ceremony. When the rituals began at the house, there was a power outage and the two of the brides, identified as Nikita and Karishma, sat near each other's grooms without realizing the mistake, Times Now News reported.

At the end of the ceremony, when the couples came out of the room to complete their final round of rituals, everyone realized the mistake causing chaos in the house.

However, the families sat together and discussed with the couples who then decided to get married again to the originally intended pairs. The priest then once again performed the ceremony, this time with the right match of bride and groom, putting an end to the dramatic goof-up.

"The family members identified the mistake in some light and immediately fixed it. The priest performed the seven vows ceremony with the right match of bride and groom," Lakhan Patel, a villager said, as reported by The Times of India.

Meanwhile, the family accused the local administration of causing chaos as the village has scheduled power outages in the area from 7 p.m. to 12 midnight daily.

Apart from the lack of visibility due to the power outage, confusion amplified as all the grooms wore dresses in the same colors and so did the brides who had veils covering their faces, reports said.

Meanwhile, the incident has gone viral on social media sparking heated discussions among the local political parties accusing the government of failing to provide continuous electrical supply during the summer. There have been reports of rampant power cuts in several parts of the country due to the coal shortage, although the government insisted that there is no scarcity, Hindustan Times reported.
