Legal documents filed Wednesday in Los Angeles Superior Court show that Britney Spears' medical team is in favor of having her father removed from her conservatorship. The documents were filed by the attorney for Jodie Montgomery, who is Spears’ temporary conservator.

It's unclear how much the medical team's assessment will influence the conservatorship decision against Spears' father, Jamie Spears.

Variety noted that Montgomery claims that Spears’ "medical team agrees that it is not in the best interest of the Conservatee for Mr. Spears to remain Conservator.” Montgomery says in the filing that she wants Jason Rubin appointed conservatorship of her estate in place of Jamie Spears.

Spears was denied the removal of her conservatorship in June but is standing her grounding in the battle. The conservatorship battle for the 39-year-old pop star has become a top entertainment news story in recent weeks.

The New York Times on July 22 reported that confidential court records showed that Britney Spears had "expressed serious opposition to the conservatorship earlier and more often than had previously been known, and said that it restricted everything from whom she dated to the color of her kitchen cabinets."
