KEY POINTS

  • The Hashtag #BUTTERTHEREMIX became a trending topic Friday
  • The remixed "Butter" video has reached over four million views
  • BTS' legal team tried to help Megan Stallion regarding release of remixed "Butter"

The remixed version of BTS' hit track "Butter" was released on Friday, featuring rapper Megan Thee Stallion. Fans took to Twitter to share their thoughts on the same.

On the social networking service, the hashtag #BUTTERTHEREMIX started trending worldwide with nearly two million tweets just hours after the release of the track.

"That laugh of Megan after namjoon's part of "Got ARMY right behind us when we say so" got me screaming on the floor #BUTTERTHEEREMIX," a fan tweeted.

“Why are you so quiet? my mind every second: #BUTTERTHEEREMIX," another one commented.

The remixed “Butter” official video also garnered close to five million views a few hours after it was posted on YouTube.

Stallion opens the track with the lyrics, “Ayy, it’s the hot girl coach and BTS, ah” followed by the track’s original intro.

Last Wednesday, a Texas judge ruled in favor of Stallion permitting her to release the “Butter” remix after she claimed her record label, 1501 Certified Entertainment, blocked her from releasing the track.

According to TMZ, Stallion believes that “Butter” will allow her to reach more fans as she partners with the hugely popular BTS. But she said her record label does not believe so. Furthermore, she said 1501 Certified Entertainment is asking her for money to approve the release of the song.

Last year, the “Savage” rapper, originally known as Megan Pete, also fought a legal battle against her record label which prevented her from releasing new music because she was trying to re-negotiate her contract, as per TMZ.

In March 2020, the same Texas judge ruled in her favor and ordered her record label “to do nothing to prevent the release, distribution and sale of Pete's new records.”

Prior to Wednesday’s ruling, BTS’ legal team also stepped in to help Stallion negotiate with her record label regarding the release of the track, Koreaboo reported.

“My legal team, along with the BTS’ legal team have tried without success to work with 1501, which instead continued to engage in extortion,” stated a portion of the court document.

Stallion claimed in the document that instead of trying to engage in discussions, “1501 has done nothing other than sending a vague email stating that 1501 does not believe the Feature Track is ‘good for [my] career as a recording artist and so are not approving the release of the feature track.”
