Buckingham Palace made a mistake that sparked rumors that Meghan Markle and Prince Harry are divorcing.

Last week, Buckingham Palace released a statement about the Duke and Duchess of Sussex following the latter’s resignation. Prince Harry and Markle said in a statement that they were stepping back from their royal roles. The palace issued a statement after Queen Elizabeth II, Prince Charles, Prince Harry and Prince William’s crisis talk.

In their announcement, the palace said that Markle and Prince Harry will no longer be using their royal titles. Under the arrangement, the couple would be addressed as “Harry, Duke of Sussex” and “Meghan, Duchess of Sussex” moving forward. But according to Melissa Godin of The Time, the titles are “erroneous.”

“Historically, however, this formatting has been used by women who have divorced a royal family member, such as Sarah Ferguson and Diana, who became ‘Sarah, Duchess of York’ and ‘Diana, Princess of Wales’ after their respective divorces from Prince Andrew and Prince Charles,” Godin wrote.

On Monday, Sky News reported that the palace had acknowledged its mistake and labeled the initial title given to the couple as “erroneous.” The palace also said that they will be rectified and stressed that the Sussexes will not lose their titles.

Meanwhile, Markle was lambasted by the netizens after she was photographed with Archie in Canada. Based on the shot, Markle didn’t avoid the paparazzi and even smiled at the camera.

Many were not happy because the Sussexes were obsessed with their privacy when they were still with the royal family. However, they appear to be living different lives after they ditched the royal family.

“There was me thinking they wanted privacy? Or perhaps just exposure on their own terms,” one wrote on Twitter.

“Bingo. She's not afraid of publicity, she just wants it to be positive,” another added.

In related news, Markle’s half-sister Samantha expressed her concern for Prince Harry and Archie. In a commentary piece for The Sun, Samantha was worried if the family will ever find happiness. She added that Markle needs sincerity and dignity to live in peace with her husband and son.
