A Black family in Discovery Bay, California was told to “act white” during an argument with their neighbor in which the white woman held on to a stun gun while accusing their pitbull of attacking her small dog.

Following the confrontation, the Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff made a report of the incident between the neighbors after initially being contacted about a dog being off of its leash, ABC 7 News reports.

"The Contra Costa County Office of the Sheriff takes these types of acts seriously. Deputy Sheriffs responded to the home yesterday and contacted both parties involved,” a statement from the Sheriff’s office revealed.

“Although Deputies determined that no crime had been committed, a report was taken to document the interaction between the two neighbors, as the original complaint was in reference to a neighbor dispute due to an off-leash dog. The Office of the Sheriff will refer the case to Contra Costa Animal Services.”

In a video of the confrontation, Adana Dean can be seen yelling at her neighbor, Gerritt Jones, and accusing his family’s 2-year-old pit bull, Dice, of biting her dog.

During the argument, Dean told the family, “You know what? You guys are acting like Black people and you should act like white people,” she said.

She added, “You’re a Black person in a white neighborhood and you’re acting like one why don’t you act like a white person in a white neighborhood?”

When Jones’ sister, Jariell, asked Dean to repeat what she said, the woman changed her statement and said, “You’re acting like people who aren’t normal.”

Although Dean went on to claim that she was afraid of the pitbull, Jones’ surveillance video shows her petting Dice a day before the confrontation took place.

Jarielle shared videos of the incident on Twitter and admitted she was frustrated. “Discovery Bay, CA • I am TIRED of living this way. I am TIRED of passive-aggressiveness. I am TIRED of the fake smiles. I am TIRED that I don’t feel safe in a house that I’ve lived in for 10+ years cause of the color of my skin. #karensgonewild #blm #racisminamerica,” she tweeted.

Despite Dean’s comments, Zayaire revealed he and his family plan to “act Black in our white neighborhood” going forward.
