The newest "Call of Duty" title has broken the revenue record held by "Black Ops 2" after it made more than $1 billion in global sales in the first 10 days of its release.

"Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2" was released by Activision Blizzard on Oct. 28 and the previous record holder, "Black Ops 2" had achieved the same amount of sales in 15 days.

Still, "Modern Warfare 2" has yet to defeat the record of the fastest-selling game of all time. Take-Two's "Grand Theft Auto 5" had surpassed $1 billion in sales in just three days.

"Modern Warfare 2" had trailed closely behind, reaching $800 million in the same amount of time.

"The incredible momentum driving 'Modern Warfare II' is a direct reflection of the energy and passion of the 'Call of Duty' community," said "Call of Duty" General Manager Johanna Faries. "As we look ahead to an unprecedented level of support for 'Modern Warfare II' and 'Warzone 2.0's' launch next week, we are motivated to deliver again for the best player community in the world."

Players of the new title have collectively logged more than 200 million hours of gameplay and more than 1 billion matches have been played.

"Call of Duty" and "Modern Warfare 2" are expected to have a year of massive success. "Warzone 2.0" is set for release on Nov. 16 and "Warzone Mobile" is slated for release in 2023.

Activision Blizzard is set to announce their latest earning figures Monday.
