Camilla Parker Bowles endured rude and unpleasant criticisms during her first meeting with Donald Trump.

According to Penny Junor in her book “The Duchess: The Untold Story,” Camilla had a tough time following Princess Diana’s untimely death. There was tension when she and Prince Charles were set to visit the U.S. famously referred to as “Diana’s heartland” for their first official tour together.

Junor added that it was a “terrifying initiation” for the Duchess of Cornwall. She knew that the people would be comparing her to Princess Diana who wowed the country.

True to it, Camilla’s fears came to life. One woman outside the United Nations held up a banner that read, “Camilla you are not Diana.”

When Prince Charles and Camilla met Donald and Melania Trump at the Museum of Modern Art, The New York Post ran a headline, “Queen Camilla is New York’s Frump Tower.”

“‘Frump Tower’ was really rude and unpleasant but they would have written some of that stuff anyway, because she was not Diana and certain sections of the media couldn’t understand how a wealthy royal would swap a beautiful blonde for someone less beautiful,” Junor wrote.

Although Prince Charles and Camilla’s visit to the U.S. in 2005 was tough it was a triumph. One source said that when the American reporters saw the couple in action and heard Camilla speak, they started to write favorable stuff about her.

Just recently, Prince Charles and Camilla met Donald and Melania again for the U.S. president’s state visit in the U.K. All of them were present in the state banquet Queen Elizabeth II hosted for the American politician.

Camilla stole the spotlight when she was caught on camera winking and grinning cheekily after meeting the visitors. It remains unknown why she did the act but some find it “shady.” However, the majority of the netizens like what Camilla did.

A number of online users confessed that they are not a fan of Camilla but after seeing her wink, they started to like her. Others said that they like her even more.
