This vampire anime, based on the manga by original creator Jun Mochizuki, explores a world where humans and vampires have been living together peacefully.

"The Case Study of Vanitas" Episode 1 is set to introduce the main character, Noé, who is a young vampire traveling to Paris looking for a cursed book, named The Book of Vanitas.

On his way to Paris, the young vampire bumps into someone who claims to be a vampire doctor. Noé notes that a person named Vanitas is carrying the book he is after.

"This is a tale of vampires on the brink of extinction. Nineteenth-century France, where humans and vampires coexist. The young vampire Noé is traveling to Paris in search of The Book of Vanitas, a book said to be capable of unleashing a curse upon all vampires," read the official series synopsis of "The Case Study of Vanitas," according to Aniplus Asia.

"On an airship towards Paris, he finds himself embroiled in a strange incident. Amidst the chaos, Vanitas, a human doctor who claims to be a vampire expert, appears before Noé. In Vanitas’s hands is the very book that Noé has been searching for — The Book of Vanitas. Following this encounter, the curtain is set to rise on this vampiric tale of curses, and salvation…," the synopsis continued.

The opening theme song of "The Case Study of Vanitas" anime, titled "Sora to Utsuru," is performed by sasanomaly and the ending theme song, called "0 (zero)," is performed by LMYK.

Tomoyuki Itamura is the director of the anime series, Anime News Network reported. The series composition is handled by Deko Akao and the character designing is by Yoshiyuki Ito, who is also the chief animation director. The music of the series is composed by Yuki Kajiura.

The cast of the anime includes Kaito Ishikawa as Noé Archiviste, Natsuki Hanae as Vanitas, Akira Ishida as Teacher, Ai Kayano as Dominique, Inori Minase as Jeanne, Miyu Komaki as Murr, Koji Yusa as Johann, Riho Kuma as Riche, Taro Kiuchi as Dante and Shino Shimoji as Luca.

Fans can watch "The Case Study of Vanitas" Episode 1 online on Funimation. The episode is scheduled to live stream this Saturday.
