The mysterious and spooky “Addam Family” is coming on Netflix with a kooky spin-off about Wednesday Addams. Appropriately titled “Wednesday," Jenna Ortega will play the protagonist in the series.

And now it looks like Catherine Zeta-Jones and Luis Guzman will also be joining the cast as the matriarch of the Addams Family, Morticia Addams, and her husband Gomez Addams, respectively.

The news was shared on Netflix’s official account earlier today with a tweet that said thus: “Our Addams family is expanding! Catherine Zeta-Jones will step into the iconic silhouette of Morticia Addams while Luis Guzmán will bring to life the debonair Gomez Addams in the upcoming TV series Wednesday, starring Jenna Ortega as Wednesday Addams and directed by Tim Burton.”

In February 2021, Tim Burton announced the series and revealed the first look of the show’s artwork, which showed a silhouette of Wednesday playing the cello with a large knife instead of a bow, understandably.

The “Yes Day” fame Ortega will lead the cast, while Zeta-Jones and Guzman will be recurring guest stars as the show focuses on Wednesday’s days as a student at Nevermore Academy.

After giving various superhits like “Edward Scissorhands," "Alice In The Wonderland," “Batman Forever," and more, this will be Burton’s first foray into television.

And who could be more befitting to make this horror-inspired, goth-tinged aesthetical series?

Ever since the series was announced, fans were hoping to see Burton reunite with his favorite star Johnny Depp and Michelle Pfeiffer as Gomez Addams and Morticia Addams.

“Wednesday” will be an eight-episode series, and is written by “Smallville” creators Al Gough and Miles Millar. The show is a coming-of-age comedy that will focus on Wednesday’s student years at Nevermore Academy, where she will be attempting to master her emerging psychic ability.

She will thwart a monstrous killing spree that has terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that embroiled her parents Morticia and Gomez 25 years ago, while also navigating her new and very tangled relationships.

With “Wednesday,” The “Legend Of Zorro” actress has joined the long list of actresses who have also previously played Morticia Addams, including Anjelica Huston, Charlize Theron, Daryl Hannah and Carolyn Jones.
