Popular TikTok star Charli D’Amelio spoke about the pressures of having a romantic relationship under public eye among other things during her latest interview.

In an exclusive interview with Entertainment Tonight’s Keltie Knight, D’Amelio, 16, talked about what it is to be under constant public glare, her new book and her achievement on attaining 100 million TikTok subscribers.

Much has been said and written about her on/off relationship with 18-year-old Lil Huddy, aka Chase Hudson, since the past couple of years.

The two were said to have broken up in April. Though the present status of their relationship remains unknown, D’Amelio was recently spotted picking up Hudson from the Los Angeles airport along with her father, Robert D’Amelio. The two hugged each other passionately before they realized their precious moment was being captured by the paparazzi.

“Honestly, having people involved in your relationship can break it. It can really tear who you are down as a person,” said D’Amelio during the interview.

She then went on to add, “When you start noticing yourself getting into that place where you’re like ‘Wow, these people are more invested in seeing us fail than they want to actually see us be happy together’… It can be really detrimental, and you just have to stay true to yourself.”

When asked about what prompted her to write a book on her life titled “Essentially Charli: The Ultimate Guide to Keeping It Real,” D’Amelio said that she wanted her fans to know that she is just like them and has insecurities and apprehensions just like them. She said that she “wants to let people know that they are not alone, and there’s a million other people that feel exactly the way that you do and that’s totally fine.”

“I don’t want to put myself in a pedestal that I am perfect 24/7 because I am very much not. I have my bad days, I have my down days, I live a normal life.”

D’Amelio donated $100,000 to dance charities and studios upon reaching 100,000 subscribers on TikTok. When asked why that was so important to her, D’Amelio explained about the anxiety she suffered from while growing up. She said that she would not have gained any confidence if not for her passion in dance.

“A lot of the studios that I am donating to help people with disabilities, with seizure disorders or epilepsy and things like this and I feel it’s so important to really let everyone know how dance is for everybody,” concluded D’Amelio.
