“Chicago Med” went on a short hiatus but the NBC series will be back next week with an all new Season 2 episode. After showing the graveyard shift in the hospital and Dr. Sarah Reese’s (Rachel DiPillo) skills, the focus will move to Dr. Ethan Choi (Brian Tee).

Next week, Choi and medical student Jeff Clarke (Jeff Hephner) will encounter a 19-year-old tough guy who is wheeled into the hospital in severe distress. The promo of Season 2, episode 12 reveals that this teenager has a handgun inside his body.

Choi informs Sharon Goodwin (S. Epatha Merkerson) that it will not be easy getting it out. The situation gets worse when the doctors learn that the gun was used as a weapon for a crime. Goodwin realizes that they have to secure a warrant in order to remove it. However, if they do not operate on the patient, he will die. Later, Choi discovers that the surgery is extremely risky. Not only can the gun kill the patient but it can also kill the doctors performing the surgery. Yikes.

Dr. Reese also gets involved in this complicated surgery and tries her best to help Choi’s patient.

The nurses and doctors at the hospital are asked to wear bullet-proof vests if they want to see the surgery.

Elsewhere in the hospital, Dr. Natalie Manning (Torrey DeVitto) and Dr. Daniel Charles (Oliver Platt) treat a teenage girl with a rapidly changing set of symptoms. They both are perplexed by this peculiar case.

“Chicago Med” Season 2, episode 12, titled “Mirror Mirror,” will also see Dr. Latham (Ato Essandoh) confess something to Dr. Connor Rhodes (Colin Donnell).

Furthermore, Dr. Will Halstead (Nick Gehlfuss) deals with a difficult case but it gets even more complicated when Dr. Stohl (Eddie Jemison) brings along a camera crew to follow him for shooting a promotional video.

“Chicago Med” Season 2 airs Thursdays at 9 p.m. EST on NBC.
