Command & Conquer will ‘conquer’ yet again, 25 years after it was first released. The new, remastered version of the classic will be released on June 5 in celebration of the series’ 25th anniversary. Copies will be sold on both Origin and Steam. The package will include Command & Conquer: Red Alert, Command & Conquer: Tiberian Dawn and its three expansion packs Covert Ops, Counterstrike, and The Aftermath.

According to IGN, the game has been remastered to fit into today’s 4K-supported graphics. Its graphics had been rebuilt, UI has been revamped, the soundtrack remastered, and a map editor has also been added. Controls and multiplayer support had also been updated to support games like 1v1 quick matches and features have been added like Elo-based matchmaking as well as leaderboards.

The game, which had been labelled a “passion project” for Electronic Arts, enlisting former Westwood Studios employees to work on the game. These employees have since formed Petroglyph Games. With these people working on the game, it’s as if EA is saying it wants to release another classic.

The game first entered alpha in July 2019, PC Gamer reported. A lot has since gone into the development of the game, including a feature where gamers can toggle between original and Remastered graphics. Jim Vessella, speaking during the game stream, said that the feature might turn out to be a popular feature with fans of the series.

Aside from the original team at Westwood returning to help with the game, Frank Klepacki is also coming back. Klepacki has been an integral part of the original game’s development. He was behind the original game’s unique audio and classic soundtrack. He is once again working on the Remastered version’s audio as composer and director.

Vessella went into even more details about the game. Aside from the improved UI and the expansion packs included in the game, the EA executive made it clear that this is a remake and not a remaster. With the game set to arrive in June, people will have the chance to test for themselves what EA Games had been advertising all along.
