Finding a surprise when you arrive home is downright awesome. However, the same may not be the state of mind of one couple in Australia after finding a huge snake wrapped around their Christmas tree.

Leanne Chapman and her partner came home to find a lot of butcherbirds on the porch. It was a usual sight for them. Her partner even took out the camera to take snaps of the nice scene happening before their eyes. Thinking that it was the only thing that visited them, her partner started leaning against the potted fir tree only to find the massive creature.

A Visiting Python

At that point, although he was already so close to the snake, he still didn’t realize the danger that he was in. Luckily, he got to turn around, and it was only then that they saw the huge 10-foot long python wrapped around their tree. They did not panic, but they backed out of the porch very slowly. They were just thankful that the snake did not turn towards them.

It was the first experience for both Leanne and her partner. According to Leann, it was the first time that she had seen a python up close. So what was supposed to be an initially scary experience turned out to be something surprising for Leann. When the initial shock was over, she started to admire the beautiful snake.

Leann and her partner waited until the snake finally decided to get out and slithered away. It was already 10:30 P.M. when it left their home.

According to Leann, the snake wasn’t even bothered by them. It was all snug and happy for a few hours on their tree. They had to watch it from the window up to the time that it finally decided to leave.

A Common Occurrence

Leann’s python was not the first occurrence in Australia. There have been so many reports of people finding the reptile in their homes.

In January this year, a woman was bitten in the toilet by a snake. She literally jumped out of the toilet bowl. Thankfully, the snake wasn’t poisonous.

Snake catchers advise that one must not try to kill a snake at home. Some breeds are so dangerous that an attempt to kill them could put one in danger. Your safety is always the paramount concern when handling snakes.
