A Los Angeles Superior Court has denied Britney Spears’ request to remove her father, Jamie Spears, as her conservator, a report said. An order signed Wednesday re-appointed Jamie and Bessemer Trust Company as co-conservators of the pop singer’s estate.

Jamie has been a conservator of Britney and her estate since 2008, with Bessemer Trust Company joining him in 2020 as co-conservator. Back in November, Britney’s attorney, Sam Ingham, asked the court to suspend Jamie as his daughter’s conservator and to appoint Bessemer Trust Company as the sole conservator of her estate, but Judge Brenda Penny declined.

In the court order obtained by E! News on Wednesday, it was revealed that the judge in charge of Britney’s conservatorship case has denied the request yet again.

“The conservator’s request to suspend James P. Spears immediately upon the appointment of Bessemer Trust Company of California, N.A. as sole conservator of the estate is denied without prejudice,” the document read.

Britney’s camp can file another motion to suspend Jamie from his conservatorship duties, or, as per the singer’s request, a petition to terminate her conservatorship altogether.

The decision follows Britney’s public testimony at the court hearing last week, where she requested the judge to end her conservatorship so she could get her “life back.” Britney, who has been under conservatorship since 2008, attended the Los Angeles Court hearing via phone on June 23 and called her current arrangement with her father “abusive.” During her remarks, the "Lucky" singer criticized her father and accused him of being controlling.

Britney went on to claim that her conservators have a tight rein not only over her finances and personal life but also her reproductive decisions. She accused her conservators of forcing her to have an IUD so she could not have children and of not allowing her to marry.

At the time, Jamie’s camp issued a statement denying the allegations. “Mr. Spears is sorry to see his daughter suffering and in so much pain,” the statement read. “Mr. Spears loves his daughter and misses her very much,” it added.
