A recent report falsely tried to claim “Friends” alum Courteney Cox was not getting married to her boyfriend Johnny McDaid because she wanted him to sign a prenup agreement first. Gossip Cop debunked the baseless rumor, proving it was not the case.

The rumor was started by the magazine called “Star” in an article the titled, “Courteney & Johnny: Why They’ll Never Marry!” In the article, an anonymous source claimed to have an exclusive scoop about why the celebrity couple was not getting married.

“Court got massively ripped off in her divorce from David Arquette, and her lawyers have taught her since then to put her financial needs first,” the unnamed tipster told the fraudulent tabloid. “She will not get married unless Johnny signs a prenup that would basically give him nothing if they ever divorced.”

The questionable insider continued, casting doubt on the possibility Cox will ever get married to McDaid. “Court is just leaving things as they are. She doesn’t need the white gown and the walk down the aisle. For these two, it’s looking more like ‘I never!’”

Gossip Cop reached out to a source close to Cox who rubbished the tabloid’s reasoning of why the actress was refraining from taking wedding vows. While the couple might not be planning to get married anytime soon, it had nothing to do with them fighting over prenup.

Also, while attending the Irish Arts Center Spirit of Ireland Gala in New York City last month, Cox and McDaid opened up about their mutual decision to not get married in the eyes of the society.

“We’re not married,” she told People Magazine. “I’m married in my heart.”

Her beau also echoed Cox’s thoughts when he explained why the pair had not had the formal ceremony yet.

“We have one every morning when we look at each other.” My thoughts are never without Court. She’s my best friend. She’s my partner, in everything,” he said. “When I write her poems, it’s just an extension of how I feel every second anyway, and that’s true for me.”

In a previous interview he had similarly gushed about his partner, saying, “I don’t know if you can put a label on what makes us work, but I know that I’ve never loved like I love this woman, so if that’s enough, then that’s enough.”

Despite not having tied the knot Cox told NewBeauty magazinein 2017 they would love to start a family of their own.

“I would love to have a baby now,” said Cox. “I would. I know it’s crazy, but I would.”
