Mackenzie Ziegler (R) will be in the spotlight in "Dance Moms" Season 5, episode 13 with the absence of her sister Maddie (L). Lifetime

The “Dance Moms” stars will exhibit some real girl power in Tuesday’s Season 5 installment when Abby Lee Miller has her team channel the Spice Girls for their competition group number. However, with the absence of her star student Maddie Ziegler, the coach won't have much faith in her team to pull out a win.

“If you guys don’t win without Maddie, you know what that says to the whole world,” Abby tells her students in a promo for episode 13. And while Abby is always vying for a first-place win, her desire to beat out the rest of the competition will be even stronger due to the return of Cathy Nesbitt-Stein’s Candy Apples.

According to the synopsis for episode 13, the ALDC will go head-to-head against their rivals for the second consecutive week in the upcoming installment. After Cathy’s team failed to win against Abby’s in episode 12, the Ohio-based coach will reportedly have her newly-assembled “premium” team bring out all the stops for their performance.

“Cathy is out for blood. She hasn’t beaten us in two years so my kids better be on their A-game,” Abby says in the preview. “If there’s one thing I hate more than coming in second, it’s coming in second to the rotten Apples.”

With Maddie absent from the group routine — she was busy guest starring on “Saturday Night Live” — and Abby’s decision to have her girls perform an uncharacteristically “sassy and funky” routine, Cathy will be confident in her studio's ability to finally bring home a win. “Maddie is not going to be there this weekend. Let’s now compete apples to apples,” Cathy says in the teaser.

And while Abby may be worried about her team’s abilities, Maddie’s sister Mackenzie will revel in the spotlight. In the episode, which is titled “Mackenzie’s Time to Shine,” the 10-year-old performer will “remind everyone she is more than just Maddie’s little sister,” the synopsis reveals. A sneak preview of the ALDC’s group performance, titled "Tell Me What You Want," shows Mackenzie taking on her sibling’s starring role in the number playing Spice Girl lead Ginger Spice.

So, did the ALDC manage to once again beat the Candy Apples? Hold onto your tap shoes, “Dance Moms” fans, because according to one “Dance Moms” spoiler site, episode 13 will not result in a victory for the ALDC. Abby’s girls reportedly took home second in the teen jazz division and third-place overall for their Spice Girls-inspired group number at World Class Talent Experience Invitational in Cleveland, Ohio, on Jan 17. The Candy Apple’s contemporary routine “Stand Up” is said to have secured first-place in the teen division and first-place in the overalls.

Episode 13 of “Dance Moms” Season 5 premieres Tuesday at 9 p.m. EDT on Lifetime.
