On Friday night, "Dateline" will take a closer look at Randy Baker's death. Throughout the episode of the true-crime show, NBC correspondent Keith Morrison will examine the case and subsequent investigation that took place.

In the weeks leading up to his death, Randy, who was a 59-year-old recovering heart patient, had faced the consistent issue of falling asleep at the wheel. After the fifth time that it happened to him in one month, law enforcement officials responded to the scene in order to find out what had happened. After speaking with him and seeing that his Pontiac only had a slight "ding" on it, the responding police officers determined that he was okay and allowed him to leave with just a warning.

As noted by Morrison in the preview below, that fifth swerve off the road was Randy's last.

On Aug. 16, 2017, Randy's wife, Kelly Baker, discovered his body upon arriving home that morning, which is when she called 911. Officer Doug Medhurst with the Greeley, Colorado, police department responded to the call. At that time, he found her sitting outside on the steps.

"I asked her what had happened. And she told me her husband, Randy Baker, was dead in the house," Medhurst tells Morrison in the preview below.

Later, Kelly informed him that she had been away the night before and had only found his body when she returned to her residence and opened the garage door.

However, the discovery may not have been what it initially seemed to be due to the fact that a coroner would later find two bullet wounds on his body. As stated by a press release for the episode, this would indicate to his family members that Randy didn't die of natural causes after all which would leave them to wonder about his "mysterious death."

On Friday's new episode of the NBC show, Morrison will examine the circumstances surrounding Randy's demise and give viewers a more comprehensive look at what happened leading up to Kelly's discovery.

This episode of "Dateline," called "The Secret Keepers," will air Friday at 10 p.m. EDT on NBC.
