Singer-actress Patti LaBelle and transgender rights activist Janet Mock are guest starring in next week’s Season 1, episode 7 of “Daytime Divas.”

LaBelle will play the role of William’s (Norm Lewis) mother named Gloria Thomas, while Mock will appear as herself as the new guest co-host of the “The Lunch Hour.”

According to the synopsis for the upcoming episode of the new VH1 series, Maxine (Vanessa Williams) is forced to drop a bombshell on air when Gloria makes a visit on the set of “The Lunch Hour.” TVLine reported last November that Labelle’s Gloria is described as a “sharp-tongued, fabulous, prying” mother, who claims to know her son better than anybody else. Will Maxine finally make her relationship with William public with Gloria’s arrival?

Meanwhile, Janet is “The Lunch Hour’s” first ever transgender co-host. While Maxine assumes that Heather (Fiona Gubelmann), the conservative co-host of the talk show, will react awkwardly to Janet, her reaction is actually the opposite. In a sneak peek from next week’s episode, Heather is actually delighted to meet the new guest co-host.

“You’re so beautiful,” Heather tells Janet.

“Thank you. I am so excited for this week,” Janet replies.

Heather goes on to make Janet feel welcome. “Do you have your own stylist or do you pick out your own your own clothes?” Heather asks their new co-host as she takes her to her seat in the makeup room.

“I usually pick out my own stuff,” Janet shares. “What about you? I love [your dress].”

While Heather is seemingly just being friendly to Janet, both Kibby (Chloe Bridges) and Nina (Camille Guaty) are questioning Heather’s intentions. “Gross. Heather’s making Janet thinks she’s her BFF,” Kibby tells Nina in the sneak peek. “But just wait, as soon as the camera starts rolling she’s gonna go right-wing on her butt.”

“She is so manipulative,” Nina says of Heather. “I love it.”

But is Heather really being manipulative? As viewers know, Heather’s son, Brad Jr. (Will Buie Jr.), is fond of wearing girl clothes and identifies himself as Ella. Perhaps, Heather just sees her son growing up to be like Janet, and that explains why Heather is so welcoming of her.

Elsewhere in the upcoming episode, Nina is confronted by an obsessed fan.

“Daytime Divas” Season 1, episode 7, titled “Truth’s a Mutha,” airs on Monday, July 17 at 10 p.m. EDT on VH1. Watch the sneak peek below:
