Debra Messing who earlier criticized Kim Kardashian's appearance on "Saturday Night Live" has apologized to the reality TV star.

The 53-year-old actress appeared on the "Tamron Hall" talk show Wednesday and explained she did not intend to troll Kardashian.

"Well, I was not intending to troll her and you know if anybody took it that way, I apologize," Messing told the show host. "That was never my intention. She is this phenomenon. I mean, you know, she is a cultural icon."

Messing went on to explain how "Saturday Night Live" plays an important part in her life as she loves comedy. For decades, the show ran on a "formula" of promoting upcoming movies and shows through celebrities who hosted the show, she said.

"And I noticed that they changed the formula, and I was like, 'Oh, does she have a new TV show coming out? Does she have a book coming out? Is she in a movie?' And she didn't have anything coming out," she explained.

Moreover, the "Along Came Polly" star thinks Kardashian's performance on the show was amazing.

"I watched her and I thought she was amazing, and I was rooting for her," Messing shared, adding that her motive has always been to uplift women and support them. "If you know me, and you follow me, then you know that I consistently lift up women. I support women. So you know, I hope that people understand that was never my intention."

Messing, in a viral tweet last month, questioned why Kardashian was chosen to host "Saturday Night Live."

"Why Kim Kardashian? I mean, I know she is a cultural icon, but SNL has hosts, generally, who are performers who are there to promote a film, TV show, or album launch," she asked. "Am I missing something?"

Messing was last seen in an adventure drama movie, "The Dark Divide," which was released on Sept. 18, 2020. The actress is currently filming the musical comedy "13," which is helmed by director Tamra Davis. The movie also stars Josh Peck and Peter Hermann.
