The Denver Nuggets are slated to duke it out with the streaking Los Angeles Lakers on Monday, January 9 in a battle of Western Conference heavyweights enjoying winning runs.

The Nuggets are coming off a huge win over the Cleveland Cavaliers—their second-straight victory.

Denver also handed the undermanned Los Angeles Clippers a trashing previously, 122-91.

Against the Cavaliers, Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray combined for 46 points to deal the Donovan Mitchell-less Cavs a 121-108 beating.

Jokic finished with a triple-double performance in that game.

Aside from pouring in 28 points, the Serbian cager also hauled down 15 rebounds and 10 assists.

Looking at the regular season series of the Lakers and the Nuggets, the Purple and Gold have the upper hand with a 2-1 slate, winning their last two encounters (121-110 and 126-108).

Denver took the first meeting over the Lakers, 110-99.

The Nuggets are averaging 116.7 points per game and shooting 50.9% from the field.

Denver likewise holds a 40.1% percentage from beyond the arc and is controlling the boards with an average of 43.2 per game.

Defensively, the Nuggets are limiting their opponents to 113.8 points per game and 48.2% from the field.

However, they are giving up 40 rebounds per contest and own a defensive rating of 87 which is sixth in the league.

For the Lakers, the resurgence of Dennis Schroder and the stellar play of LeBron James have been helping the team's bid to rack up wins.

Against the Kings, James had 37 points, eight rebounds, and seven assists.

Thomas Bryant also had a good outing then, hauling 29 points and hauling down 14 caroms.

Schroder, on the other hand, has picked up his game. Against the Kings, he accounted for 27 points and four rebounds.

The German guard has been averaging 12.6 points, 3.7 assists and 2.2 rebounds in 26 games this season, but his last couple of games, particularly in scoring, have gone up.

The Lakers are averaging 116.9 points per game and hold a 48.7% field goal shooting clip, including 34.3% from beyond the arc.

In addition, Los Angeles norms 45 rebounds per game.

On the defensive end, the Lakers are holding down their counterparts to 117.7 points per match and permitting them to shoot 48.5% from the field.

They are also allowing 45 rebounds per game and own a defensive rating of 90, which is third in the league.

The Nuggets are the -8.5 spread favorites to prevail over the Lakers, who are at +8.5.

Meanwhile, the Moneyline is -360 for Denver and +295 for Los Angeles.

The Nuggets will host the Lakers on Monday at the Ball Arena with tip-off set for 9:00 PM ET.
