Developer Bungie has extended the open beta testing for “Destiny 2.” Find out more details below.

“Destiny 2” beta testers will have more time to explore the upcoming online-only multiplayer since developer Bungie has extended the period of the game’s open beta. Instead of wrapping up public beta testing this Monday, fans are given more hours to spend on the game.

Extended Open Beta

Bungie announced the extension via Twitter, saying that open beta has been prolonged for “additional service testing.” It is now scheduled to end on Tuesday, specifically at 6 p.m. PDT.

This is not something new for Bungie. Eurogamer pointed out that the developer also extended the beta testing period for the original “Destiny” in a similar way. There’s no information on whether new things have been added to the game.

The Farm As The Main Hub

It’s worth mentioning that last Sunday, the social space in the new game called The Farm opened up during a one-hour window. This allowed players to meet up, discuss plans, explore the space, look for hidden easter eggs and play a match of football.

Unfortunately, vendors were not made available during the hour that The Farm was opened up for beta testing. Bleeding Cool says this setup could have been due to the fact that Bungie did not want to showcase everything prior to the launch of “Destiny 2” this fall.

Fan Impressions On The Open Beta

Many fans of the first-person shooter video game have voiced out their thoughts on the open beta through Reddit. So far, most of them are echoing the same sentiment of being disappointed from what the makers have come up with compared to the original title.

Reddit user Reversedd, who has spent more than 2,500 hours into the original game, stated that PvE (Player vs. Environment) is a letdown because of the cooldown changes and the new weapon system. The same Redditor claimed that PvP (Player vs. Player) seem to be more balanced, but it is quite boring and frustrating.

Another beta tester, SeibaAlter, wrote on Reddit, “I wasn’t expecting much to change but man, it felt like it just got worse. Most enemies felt like bullet sponge, PvP feels very slow and horrible.” A Reddit user with the handle FancyRaptor opined, “Everything feels too slow and too weak. It’s especially bad in PvP. I love ‘Destiny.’ I’ve got a crazy amount of hours and the platinum. But man do I hate this beta.”

Others complained about the writing. Redditor Chrundle-Kelly stated, “The writing (despite there being more of it and given more context) is still very bad, right up there with B level movie trailers of just everyone speaking in 1 liners rather than saying anything of substance.” HaxRyter chimed in saying, “As a writer, I really don’t think they understand what makes a rich plot and well-developed characters.”

“Destiny 2” is scheduled for release for the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on Sept. 6. The game’s PC version is slated for launch on Oct. 24.
