  • Big changes to the Iron Banner are currently being considered by Bungie
  • The listed information is still subject to change
  • The rework may go live after the launch of the "Witch Queen" expansion next year

Ever since the massive rework for Trials of Osiris, “Destiny 2” fans have been asking Bungie to give the Iron Banner, the other Pinnacle PvP game mode, similar treatment in terms of how the mode should be played and how loot can be earned from it.

Destiny 2’s” Iron Banner is an end-game PvP game mode that pits two teams of six against each other in a riskier version of the standard Control mode. Like in Trials, power level advantages are enabled, which means that players who have reached the season’s pinnacle cap have the best chances of winning matches.

Some of the best PvP weapons in the game can be acquired from the Iron Banner, but as Forbes pointed out, grinding for these items can be very tedious due to the lack of target farming options and the stingy post-match reward system.

Bungie community manager DMG did mention that the Iron Banner will eventually receive a rework, but he didn’t give any specific details about it. However, a document containing possible changes coming to the pinnacle PvP mode was recently uploaded on Twitter by DestinyTwoLeaks.

The leaks, which reportedly came from the same document that held accurate information for the “Witch Queen” and “Season of the Lost,” detailed a number of interesting changes that are supposedly set for the Iron banner. The most notable ones are:

  • Lord Saladin will be reworked like Saint-14; Iron Banner tokens will be removed
  • Iron Banner armor or ornaments will increase vendor reputation gain by 10% each
  • New or reissued Iron Banner weapons and armor will be introduced every season
  • World drops will no longer be included as post-game rewards
  • New armor pieces will have dedicated mod slots for Iron Banner-only armor mods

Take this information with a grain of salt. Bungie has not confirmed any of these, and it’s unsure if any of the changes will ever make it to the live version of the game.

Should the Iron Banner changes prove to be true, then it’s likely that they will be implemented during or after the launch of the “Witch Queen” expansion in February 2022.
