Disney animation shared a trailer of the upcoming short movie "Far From The Tree" online Wednesday.

The 2D trailer shows a baby raccoon and its parent spending some quality time in the woods and on the beach. The baby raccoon remains naive to the dangers of nature. A coyote tries to attack the raccoon but its parent successfully saves the baby.

In the next scene, the raccoon becomes an adult and does the same adventure with another baby raccoon. The animated adventure was first screened at the Annecy Film Festival in June. It will release on Disney+ this Friday.

"Experience the bonds of family with 'Far From The Tree,' a new animated short, streaming this Friday on @DisneyPlus," Disney's official Twitter handle said.

Online users were excited as the trailer featured 2D animation technology.

"2D makes its comeback! Please, so many of us want more 2D from Disney, it's what built Disney in the first place!" one of the users wrote. "I SAW RHIS IN THEATER IS SO CUTE," another fan added.

Another user made a shrewd observation, saying the movie was actually made in 3D but it looked like 2D.

One person praised the shading work done in the trailer and commented, "Woah, very clever use of 3d animation! Would love to see a behind-the-scenes to take a look at the shaders they used its beautiful!"

Others wanted Disney to make more 2D movies and series.

This was not the first time Disney Animation released 2D animated movies in recent times. The studio released "Get a Horse!" featuring Mickey Mouse in 2013 and "Feast" in 2014.

Disney also dropped a list of upcoming live-action movies and series. "Free Guy," "Eternals," "Sneakerella" and many more will release on Disney+ in 2022. Here's a complete list of movies and series releasing on Disney+.
