Donald Trump is reportedly not close to his children with his two ex-wives, Ivana Trump and Marla Maples, as well as his current wife, Melania Trump.

But over a decade ago, the POTUS spoke with New York Magazine, where he revealed the hardest thing about raising his four older children, Don Jr., Ivanka, Eric and Tiffany.

“The hardest thing for me about raising kids has been finding the time. I know friends who leave their business so they can spend more time with their children, and I say, ‘Gimme a break!’” the president said.

But even though Trump has acknowledged the fact that it was his previous wives and current wife who spent more time with his children, Ivanka still has some fond memories with the POTUS.

During the same interview, Ivanka said that her dad’s affair with Maples and divorce from Ivana made her and her siblings closer to her dad.

“Bizarrely, it also made us closer to dad. Every morning before school, we’d go downstairs and give him a hug and a kiss. We didn’t take his presence for granted anymore,” she said.

In 2009, Ivanka spoke with Oprah Winfrey on her talk show and revealed that the POTUS was a very strict father. Ivanka didn’t grow up to be a party girl or as someone who smoked and took drugs because Trump felt adamant about it.

The POTUS’s older brother, Fred Jr., died of a heart attack in 1981. During his interview with The Washington Post, the president said that he was very hard on his brother, and he regrets it to this day.

Meanwhile, Ivanka’s relationship with her dad has improved greatly in recent years. In fact, the first daughter has always been proud of the POTUS.

After Trump tweeted in Farsi earlier this week, Ivanka praised her dad for having the most-liked Persian tweet in the history of Twitter. Unfortunately, Ivanka’s support drew criticisms from netizens.

“Your father clearly needs medical attention. If you loved him you’d get him help, instead of covering it up to maintain your own power. Shame on you. I guess it’s how you were raised,” Twitter user @UROCKlive1 said.

“Lying seems to be a Trump family specialty,” Twitter user @ja1445 said.
