hobbs shaw trailer release date
Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson reprised their roles for the “Fast & Furious” spinoff movie, “Hobbs & Shaw.” Universal Pictures

Dwayne Johnson is very active on social media and is always giving fans behind-the-scenes glimpses of his life and his projects. Lately, he’s been ramping up his “Hobbs & Shaw” content, and, on Monday, he shared a new film photo and the trailer’s release date.

“A HOBB & SHAW exclusive. The biggest showdown the FAST & FURIOUS franchise has ever seen,” The Rock (Hobbs) captioned his photo of a fight scene from the movie, which also stars Jason Statham (Shaw). “This sacred Samoan ground you stand on is nourished with our ancestor’s blood - and now we nourish it with yours. E ke oki i le āsō — Today, you die. This film was my honor to produce and will always be much more than a movie to me.”

After checking out the actor’s latest tease, one user wrote, “Common @therock pic by pic show us the whole movie.” To which Johnson responded with a very revealing comment: “Patience my man, the trailer is coming Super Bowl…”

That’s right, fans will finally get some video footage of this much-anticipated “Fast & Furious” spinoff movie when the big game day arrives on Feb. 3. Forget all of the funny commercials coming that day because this action-packed “Hobbs & Shaw” trailer is really what Super Bowl Sunday is going to be about this year.

This big reveal wasn’t the only exciting movie secret Johnson revealed on social media recently, though. On Sunday, he posted a photo of Hobbs and his brothers, as well as a little information about their not-so-savory past.

“My name is Luke Hobbs and these are my four brothers. My family. My aiga. They all live in Western Samoa where they own and operate ‘Hobbs Customs’ - a former illegal chop shop, now a legit business where they build and deliver vintage custom cars all over the world,” The Rock wrote. “In Samoa we have another saying which is ‘Ou te le tau to’atasi ae matou te tau fa’atasi’ which means, When you fight one, you fight us ALL. Biggest showdown the Fast & Furious Universe has ever seen is coming this summer.”

One commenter wasn’t fully happy with the lineup of brothers, though, because the user felt “Aquaman” star Jason Momoa should’ve been in the mix. And he let Johnson know by asking about him in the comments section.

“Yup me and Mamoa @prideofgypsies tried hard to get him in this movie to play my brother, but his schedule was too packed,” The Rock replied. “Next Hobbs movie for sure.”

Now, not only can fans look forward to seeing the “Hobbs & Shaw” trailer on Super Bowl Sunday 2019, and the actual movie on Aug. 2, but they’ll possibly be seeing Momoa in the next Hobbs movie, too.
