Van Halen died at the age of 65 on Oct. 6 after a lengthy battle with throat cancer. He was known to be one of the most innovative lead guitarists and influenced countless musicians with his electrifying style and immense talent.

The news of Eddie’s cremation comes a few days after his son revealed that his late dad’s archived music won’t be coming anytime soon. Speaking in an interview with The Oakland Press, the 29-year-old artist noted that people should “not hold their breath” on the release of any unreleased songs from his father’s vault.

“That’s not gonna happen for a long time. have no idea what’s in there that would be worth releasing," Wolfgang told the outlet.

"To a certain extent, my dad released all the good stuff. Even without the intention to release, I want to archive it properly and digitize it, so everything is safe for years to come. It’s going to be an incredibly difficult process and a very long process to do properly," Wolfgang added.

Born in the Netherlands and raised in California, Eddie founded the rock group Van Halen with his older brother Alex in 1972 and instantly became successful. By the 1980s, Van Halen was one of the most successful rock bands of all time.

The band was nominated for three Grammys and won in 1992. The group emerged victorious in 1992 in the best hard rock performance category for the song “For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge.”
