“Ex’s and Oh’s” singer Elle King took to Instagram to share some happy news: She bought and registered a new set of wheels. The rock star wrote about her journey to American Automobile Association (AAA) in Burbank, California Tuesday, saying she was late to get insurance and faced a number of problems but they took care of her anyway.

“Sometimes you go through some sh-t,” she said. “While you're in it, you think ‘why me. Where’s my good luck.’” King, 27, then explained how her fortune turned around.

“WELL today I went to AAA to get insurance and register my truck. With 20 minutes left until closing, I had to get it back from mechanic, get it weighed, and then return with a certificate,” she wrote. “I was 11 minutes late. For some reason, they made an exception for me. Not only did they not find the 2nd VIN # I also didn't have enough cash. Yet they STILL let me leave with a temporary license plate, insurance, and smiles. These people stayed an hour late after work just to help little old me out. It was a really nice reminder of the kindness you get when you give. Andrew at the Burbank AAA...thanks man.”

The post came a day after she announced her split from husband Andrew “Fergie” Ferguson. “We secretly got married 3 weeks after we met on 2/14/2016. It was and will forever be, one of the happiest days of my life. This photo was taken today, 5/15/2017. A month after what should have been our big wedding ceremony,” King, who is the daughter of actor Rob Schneider, wrote. “My heart is broken. My soul aches. I am lost. He is the greatest love of my life. He is my best friend. As we separate, and attempt to find our footing through life, all I can hope for us is that we both find happiness within ourselves. I love you. You'll always have my heart. You'll always be my first husband.”

It was later exclusive revealed by TMZ Ferguson was arrested for alleged domestic violence April 23. The couple, who was secretly married at the time, got into an argument. He reportedly grabbed her throat with both hands, tossed her on the bed and said, “I’m gonna f---ing kill you,” law enforcement sources told TMZ Wednesday.

He left scratches on the singer’s neck and marks on her arm. Ferguson claimed he threw King so she would not hit her head on a wall, sources said. At the time this article was written, Ferguson did not issue a statement.

The singer decided not to press charges, saying “things got out of hand” when they were partying. The Los Angeles district attorney dropped the case.

King did not respond to Ferguson’s arrest.

Instead of marrying Ferguson April 15, King skipped out on the nuptials and went to an Eagles of Death Metal concert. “Skipped out on my wedding. I married Rock & Roll instead,” she wrote on Instagram the following day.

While King never gave a reason for the split, the domestic violence arrest seemingly adds context.
