Sherra Wright, the ex-wife of former NBA player Lorenzen Wright, has been charged with first-degree murder, Memphis Police said according to the Associated Press.

Police arrested Wright on Friday over the death of her ex-husband, which occurred more than seven years ago. Wright was apprehended in Riverside County, California after years of investigation into the basketball player’s homicide. Lorenzen Wright’s decomposed body was found in suburban Memphis on July 28, 2010 with multiple gunshot wounds. Wright, who was 34-years-old, was discovered 10 days after he was initially reported missing. Police also found shell casings from different calibers near him.

The charge against Sherra Wright come after authorities indicted Billy R. Turner last week on a first-degree murder charge regarding the basketball player’s death. Turner, 46, pleaded not guilty. It was later revealed that Turner was a deacon at a church where Sherra Wright was a minister.

Sherra Wright had previously said she was not a suspect in the case during a 2015 interview.

“They was like, no, you know," she told the Commercial Appeal. "It was just kind of a person of interest. They said that the list was long and wide and they didn’t have any real suspects, if you want to quote that.’’

She also appeared disgusted by suggestions that she played part in her ex-husband’s death.

“I’m a mother. I’m a wife. I’m an author. And the police should find his killer,'' she said. "For my name to be even in the same sentence of something like that — I’m a minister of the Lord. And I’ve never been in any type of trouble or anything. I just, I’m a mother. An author. And a wife.’’

However, law enforcement officials said at the time that they could not rule her out as a potential murder suspect.

Wright, who was a Memphis native, played for five team over 13 seasons, including for the Cavaliers. He played forward and center during his time in the NBA. Lorenzen and Sherra Wright ended their 13-year marriage a few months before the homicide. The relationship was said to be tainted by unfaithfulness and domestic abuse. The NBA player is survived by twin sons he had with Sherra Wright.
