Police have identified a "person of interest" in the murder of a millionaire tech CEO whose dismembered body was discovered inside his apartment in New York.

Multiple sources from the New York Police Department told the New York Post that they were able to identify a suspect in connection with the murder of Fahim Saleh, the founder and CEO of Nigerian ride-hailing start-up Gokada.

Police told the Post that the suspect was not in police custody and they were working to determine what led to the murder. Further details about the suspect weren’t revealed.

The headless torso of Saleh, with all four of his limbs severed, was discovered next to an electric saw Tuesday, July 14, inside his Lower East Side apartment in Manhattan. His other body parts were found in large plastic bags. NYPD officials said at the time that the grisly crime scene looked like a "professional" job.

Surveillance footage from his apartment building showed Saleh being followed by a man inside an elevator that opened to his seventh-floor apartment. Investigators believed that the suspect may have used a stun gun before killing him and dismembering his body with an electric saw.

A medical examiner's report said Thursday, July 16, that Saleh’s attacker repeatedly stabbed him in the neck and torso with an intent to kill him.

His Nigerian venture Gokada faced a setback recently after the local government banned commercial motorcycles in Lagos. Following this, Saleh posted a video on Twitter urging the government to lift the ban to help save jobs.

"Fahim was a great leader, inspiration and positive light for all of us,” the company said on Twitter.

Most recently, he founded the venture capital firm Adventure Capital in New York.
