A 22-year-old Colorado man was fatally shot by a deputy in June after he called 911 for help. Three months after his death, the young man's family is demanding charges against the Clear Creek county law enforcement officials involved.

Christian Glass called 911 after his car broke down in Silver Plume on June 10. "He was stuck on a small pile of rocks on the side of the road and called 911 for help. It was dark and he was really worried. He trusted the police to come and help him," Simon Glass, Christian's father spoke out Tuesday after the family reviewed the bodycam footage of the incident, The Denver Post reported.

During the 70-minute encounter, when the responding officers asked Christian to step out of the vehicle, he refused revealing that he was scared. He also told officers that he had two knives, a hammer, and a rubber mallet.

In an attempt to get him out of the vehicle, the officers broke a window. Christian then grabbed one of the knives, prompting officers to tase him.

According to the bodycam footage, Christian began to swing the knife wildly with his arm before an officer shot him, CBS News reported.

An autopsy report noted that Christian died of six gunshot wounds on his arms and torso. He also had self-inflicted, superficial stab wounds. Medical reports also pointed out that Christian had cannabis and amphetamine in his system.

Christian's mother, Sally Glass, said her son took amphetamine as a prescription medication for ADHD.

The family has now accused law enforcement officials of attacking and killing Christian, instead of helping him by calling mental health professionals while he was in distress.

"Christian's killing is a stain on Clear Creek County and Colorado. It was a murder by a Colorado official that cannot stand. It is not right," Simon said.

The family added Christian carried weapons with him as he was an amateur geologist. The parents further alleged that he offered to throw the knives out the window, but the officers asked him not to.

Meanwhile, Fifth Judicial District Attorney Heidi McCollum said an investigation is underway to determine if the officers involved would face charges.

"While we understand that public sentiment may desire this process to move at a more rapid pace, it is not in the interests of justice and fairness to the family of the victim for this matter to be rushed to a conclusion," McCollum said.
