“Fargo” Season 3 actress Olivia Sandoval revealed that the bar scene between her character, Winnie Lopez, and Carrie Coon’s Gloria Burgle in Season 3, episode 9 is the most enjoyable scene she’s done as an actress so far.

“That was honestly one of those singularly special and beautiful moments as an actor. I can’t remember a time that I’ve enjoyed acting more than getting to play off of Carrie in that scene,” Sandoval said during a recent interview with Goldderby. “What I love about it is there’s almost a role reversal that happens because Winnie looks up to Gloria and … Winnie almost becomes a mothering figure in that scene. By the end of their time together, Winnie provides a security system for Gloria and a sense of empathy that she’s been missing in her life.”

In episode 9, Gloria invited Winnie to have some drinks at the bar after Chief Moe Dammik (Shea Whigham) ordered her to let go of Emmit Stussy (Ewan McGregor) despite him confessing to the murder of his own brother Ray Stussy (also played by McGregor). While at the bar, Gloria told Winnie that she has been feeling worthless and unreal as of late. After learning about Gloria’s emotional baggage, Winnie gave her a long and tight hug that left the mother of one in tears.

“It’s a little bit of an art imitating life thing,” Sandoval added of the heartwarming scene. “I, as a newcomer really look to Carrie for guidance and she provided it … I didn’t even have to ask. She was just the most incredible support system and friend for me. And that scene was shot near the end of our time shooting so … it almost felt like me sort of thanking her and saying goodbye.”

In an interview with Parade last month, Sandoval revealed that she and Coon had an “incredible working relationship” on the set of the FX series. “We refer to each other as Starsky and Hutch or Rizzoli and Isles [while on set]. I adore her,” Sandoval said of Coon. “Carrie … was like a big sister [to me].”

“Fargo” Season 3 finale, titled “Somebody to Love,” airs on Wednesday, June 21 at 10 p.m. EDT on FX.
