At 51 years of age, Doug Hutchison married a 16-year-old Courtney Stodden in 2011. Nine years later, Stodden is reclaiming her freedom and asking "The Green Mile" actor to quit preying on minors.

The former child bride and reality star took to her Instagram on Tuesday to announce that she had finalized her divorce from the actor. The write up was accompanied by a photo from their wedding day.

She began the caption: “It’s March 3rd, 2020 - today I am officially divorced from actor Doug Hutchison. It’s an emotional day for me. God only knows how he’s feeling, but I can tell you that it’s for the better. I look back at this picture and feel absolutely taken advantage of.”

Stodden, now 25, continued her post by addressing the challenges she endured as Hutchison’s wife.

“I’ve been scared to even speak up about feeling groomed or being verbally abused during the almost 10 year marriage because I was a child and he was 50 when we married but I’m a woman now and it’s time for me to put my big girl pants on and speak on this matter,” she wrote. “I’ve felt completely trapped, manipulated and at times abandoned by adults // growing up in such an environment — it became a lonely and dark place. Stay tuned for my book.”

Stodden met her ex-husband in 2010 after contacting him regarding an acting workshop, reports Yahoo! Entertainment. At the time of their wedding, the couple released a statement regarding the age gap, Radar Online reports. It read: “We’re aware that our vast age difference is extremely controversial, but we’re very much in love and want to get the message out there that true love can be ageless.”

Furthermore, her mother, Krista Stodden, was in full support of the Las Vegas wedding and gave parental consent for the marriage, according to the outlet.

“We are totally supportive of this marriage,” Krista said at the time. “They are very much in love and we are so supportive of this.”

According to Yahoo Celebrity, Stodden’s father, Alex, walked her down the aisle.

However, Stodden explained in her recent post that her parents’ approval did not justify his actions. She pleaded with him not to take advantage of anyone else underage.

“And to Doug... I’ll always love you; yet I’ll always be angry,” the singer concluded. “You’ve left me — a child woman, feeling belittled and confused. These things I shall overcome. I wish you well. But please don’t ever do this to another minor again. It’s not right... even if the parent signs off. Wait a respectable amount of time before marrying. Children aren’t on your level. I’ll always love you regardless. Be better. As shall I.”

Stodden filed for divorce in March 2018.
