Fortnite v5.30 update added changes to controller sensitivity and Epic Games is now trying to revert it. Epic Games

“Fortnite” just got a new major update that added changes to the map and a new item to help players get out of sticky situations. Unfortunately, Epic Games also added an adjustment to aiming weapons that messed up controller sensitivity for those playing on consoles.

The v5.30 update for “Fortnite” included a change in gameplay that “tuned controller input and accelerations to allow for more fine tuning when aiming.” When the update went live however, players began reporting issues related to controller sensitivity and aiming, as pointed out by GameSpot. Epic quickly addressed the problem by releasing hotfixes that didn’t require players to update the game again. Although the hotfixes may have resolved some of the issues, it looks like there’s a bigger problem.

“Based on player feedback we went a bit too far here,” Epic Games said on Reddit. “We’re going to revert this change to how it functioned prior to the update. As of now, we’ve reverted what we can via hotfixes but will need to release a client update to solve for the rest. We’ll get this out to you as soon as we’re able to but don’t currently have a time frame.”

In addition to changing input and acceleration when aiming, Epic also lowered the dead-zone used for aiming on Xbox One controllers. The developer said that this change will be left implemented in-game as they believe that it is a “healthy adjustment in the long term.”

“In doing this we discovered and fixed a bug that slightly changed Aim Sensitivity for controllers. This means you may need to adjust your sensitivity to get that ‘just right’ feeling back, but you’ll no longer experience the change in aim acceleration,” the developer said.

In a game like “Fortnite,” being able to aim accurately is crucial in getting a victory royale. Luckily, Epic is quick to respond to players’ feedback and is already working on fixing the issue. Hopefully, Epic can send out a complete fix as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, the v5.30 update has added a new Rift-To-Go item in battle royale. The new epic rarity item allows players to instantly jump into a rift and enter skydiving mode. The new item is quite useful and can be utilized for defensive or aggressive play styles. The update has also added a new Score Royale limited time mode that lets players win matches by earning points from opening loot containers, eliminating opponents and collecting coins.
