Epic Games has announced that its next major update for “Fortnite” battle royale has been delayed along with the week 7 challenges. Update v5.30 will be released on Thursday, Aug. 23, and week 7 challenges will only be available on Friday, Aug. 24.

Epic Games typically brings major updates to “Fortnite” battle royale every Tuesdays. The video game developer didn’t provide any information as to why it needed to push back the v5.30 update and the week 7 challenges. The weekly challenges in battle royale are usually made available on Thursdays.

Polygon believes that Epic was intentionally specific on this week’s challenges since it’s the last one required to unlock the hidden Road Trip challenge skin. The skin can only be unlocked when players have completed all previous weekly challenges, including the challenges in week 7. The popular speculation that’s going around is that the hidden skin is of an Egyptian pharaoh, which might also be a hint as to what Season 6 will be about.

Another thing that’s curious about the delay in the “Fortnite” battle royale update is that it may have also pushed back a storyline event in the game. Last week, fans discovered that the giant rift in the sky on the battle royale map has begun shrinking. However, this Tuesday, the rift in the sky has reverted back to its original size.

Data miners previously discovered the code “BR_S5_Rift_Shrink,” which may be a direct reference to the in-game storyline event. Data miners said at the time that the event would take place on Aug. 21. Since Epic Games has delayed the v5.30 update, the event has been pushed back to Aug. 24. The new date for the event was discovered by FNBRLeaks on Twitter.

In other news, Epic Games has announced a new item that will become available soon in battle royale. Called Rift-to-Go, the new item will allow players to carry a rift in their pocket. The new item is shaped like a snowglobe and it appears to have a rift packed inside. Based on the single image that’s available, the item may be of “epic” (purple) rarity. This is probably the same “escape plan” item that Epic teased earlier this week on Reddit.

Rift-to-Go should provide users with an easy way out from tight situations. Users will, presumably, just be able to throw a Rift-to-Go and instantly jump into the rift, and fly away from messy situations. The Rift-to-Go item is expected to be included in the v5.30 update.
