Kit Harington may get all the attention when he’s playing Jon Snow on “Game of Thrones,” but he’s less than impressed with the shine his recent birthday got. HBO

“Game of Thrones” may be the talk of the town, but that may not be enough for some of the individuals involved in the creation of the HBO original series.

Kit Harington celebrated his 30th birthday on Monday, Dec. 26. Unfortunately for him, it is usually overlooked by many due to the holidays. The actor, known for playing Jon Snow on “Game of Thrones,” sat down with W Magazine to discuss his plans to celebrate his special day, revealing that it’s not as special as some may think.

Harington shared with the outlet that he does the same thing every year — heads down to the local pub in his hometown for a few drinks and some fun with old friends. He didn’t mention whether his “Game of Thrones” co-stars were among those invited to the festivities.

Additionally, Harington told the outlet that his birthday is often a point of contention in his life, as he gets “no attention.” Christmas and Boxing Day steal most of the shine anymore, though he did say that his parents were “very good” about differentiating the days when he was younger. Nowadays, however, they’ve gotten lax in their gift giving, and it hasn’t gone unnoticed.

“They get worse each year I find. I think I got a Harry Potter Cluedo set last year. A, I’m not 10 years old and B, that is just such a token effort, mom and dad,” he said.

Hopefully Harington enjoyed his time away from the “Game of Thrones” set and is recharged and ready to get back to work. The actor has been spotted on a number of occasions filming scenes for Season 7 in Spain with co-star Emilia Clarke, which has left fans in a tizzy.

The sightings suggest that the two powerful characters — Jon Snow and Daenerys Targaryen — will come together when “Game of Thrones” returns. It is not clear, however, what will happen when these two team up. Many presume their union is a sign that the two will devise a plan to take back the Iron Throne from Cersei Lannister (Lena Headey). Others believe their focus may be on simply stopping the white walkers.

Fans will have to wait until the show returns in 2017 to find out for sure what Jon and Daenerys are up to on “Game of Thrones.” In the meantime, catch up on Seasons 1 through 6 on HBO. The network kicked off a “Game of Thrones” year-end marathon on Dec. 26, airing one season a day until Dec. 31.
