Gisele Bündchen strutted her stuff down the catwalk one last time on Wednesday, marking the end of an era in the world of fashion. Before retiring from the runway for good, a decision she announced in March, the 34-year-old Brazilian beauty decided to end her 20-year modeling career on a high note -- and in her home country of Brazil -- by appearing in the 2015 São Paulo Fashion Week for Colcci.

“Today after 20 years in the industry, it is a privilege to be doing my last fashion show by choice and yet still be working in other facets of the business,” the Brazilian beauty captioned an image on Instagram the day of her last runway appearance. In Colcci’s show, the supermodel sported three different ensembles as she confidentially sashayed down the catwalk. The designer dubbed Bündchen’s final walk the “end of [a] historic and exciting parade."

The model, who was discovered at the young age of 14, stated how grateful she was for being “given the opportunity to start this journey.” Throughout her fruitful career, Bündchen has graced the glossy covers of fashion magazines, strutted down iconic runways, became the face of top brands like Chanel and has even started her own line of flip flops and lingerie.

However, despite her success, the appreciative wife of NFL star Tom Brady, 37, is eager to start a new chapter of her life -- one that involves a focus on her family.

“Gisele will focus on special projects and also spending more time on her No. 1 priority: her family,” the model’s sister and press representative Patricia Bündchen said in a statement after the model revealed she was quitting the catwalk.

Following his wife’s final runway appearance, the New England Patriots quarterback, who attended the Colcci show, took to Facebook to express his respect, love and admiration to the woman he married in 2009:

"Congratulations Love of my Life. You inspire me every day to be a better person," he shared on his Facebook account. “I am so proud of you and everything you have accomplished on the runway. I have never met someone with more of a will to succeed and determination to overcome any obstacle in the way. You never cease to amaze me. Nobody loves life more then you and your beauty runs much deeper then what the eye can see. I can't wait to see what's next. I love you.”

So, what will the world’s highest paying model (according to a 2014 ranking by Forbes) be doing now that she’s not striking a pose at the end of the runway? Well, in addition to spending more quality time with her family, the Goodwill Ambassador for the United Nations Environments Programme has also promised that she will continue to work in the industry, Yahoo reported.

Looks like the best has yet to come for Gisele Bündchen.
