GOP Rep. Glenn Thompson (R-Pa.) was dragged on social media after he reportedly attended his gay son's wedding, days after voting against same-sex marriages in the Congress.

Thompson was among the 157 House Republicans, who voted against the Respect for Marriage Act. If passed by Senate, the act will repeal the discriminatory Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA), thus enshrining marriage equality in federal law and providing additional legal protections for marriage equality.

Thompson and his wife Penny Ammerman-Thompson are parents to three sons -- Kale, Parker, and Logan, one of whom is openly gay and recently "married the love of [his] life."

The lawmaker was in attendance, three days after he voted "nay" to the bill, which will protect same-sex marriages. His presence was unclear till the day of the wedding as the ceremony's website didn't specify which members would be showing up, reported Gawker.

Social media users called out Thompson for his "hypocritical" behavior.

"Glenn Thompson R-PA just voted against gay marriage - 2 days later attended sons gay marriage. Excited for new son-in-law. Such hypocrites," read a tweet.

"How tragic & damning to choose to support a party & policy that would take away your own son’s happiness & right to marry the love of his life. Glenn Thompson shame on you & all who would vote the same. #LoveIsLove #MarriageEquality," wrote another.

"This is the kind of hypocrisy republicans engage in. They destroyed Roe v Wade and they’re coming after other vulnerable rights," tweeted a third.

"Two-faced GOP congressman, Glenn Thompson of PA, attends gay son's wedding after opposing protections for same-sex marriage," another irate tweet read.

Thompson's newly married son's identity was being kept under wraps. However, he confirmed his father was present for the celebration, in a chat with NBC News.

The Congressman's press secretary Maddison Stone issued a confirmation statement as well.

"Congressman and Mrs. Thompson were thrilled to attend and celebrate their son’s marriage on Friday night as he began this new chapter in his life," read the email, which also mentioned the parents were "very happy" to welcome their son-in-law "into their family."

Stone had said the Respect for Marriage act was "nothing more than an election-year messaging stunt for Democrats in Congress who have failed to address historic inflation and out-of-control prices at gas pumps and grocery stores," in an email to Centre Daily.
