When Google launched the Google Pixel 4 series, it introduced a plethora of cool new Pixel camera features. Some of these fantastic features like the astrophotography mode will be available in older Google Pixel devices. But, it seems that some of these fresh camera features from Google Pixel 4 will not be shared by Pixel 3 and Pixel 3a.

Some of the Google Pixel 4 camera features will not be available on Google Pixel 3 and Pixel 3a. This includes Live HDR and Dual Exposure Controls, which was recently confirmed by one of the official social media accounts of the search engine giant. On Twitter, a follower of the official Made by Google account inquired if the Pixel 4 feature shown in the post is exclusive to the latest Pixel model or if it is also available to older Pixel models.

The official confirmation, which includes that the Pixel Neural Core will not be available on older devices, is a massive blow to users of older Pixel phones. Some of the latest camera features heavily rely on the new internals, which makes it impossible for them to be available on older generation Pixels. The Dual Exposure mode, which the follower inquired about helps create highly artistic images as in enables to make adjustments to the shadows and highlights

Meanwhile, the Live HDR mode allows Pixel 4 users to see how photos will be like when the HDR mode is activated before the user presses the shutter button. It is possible that the low-level capabilities in the older Pixel models’ hardware that the search engine giant is pointing to have something to do with the latest Pixel Neural Core co-processor available on Pixel 4.

Google Pixel 4 and Google Pixel 4 XL are anticipated to hit the stores and carriers this month. For consumers who want to stick with older Google Pixel 3 and Google Pixel 3a models, they are still getting some of the new software available in the latest flagship Google handsets.
